HORNCHURCH FENCING CLUB

The committee and Mike wish all our website visitors a happy new year. We are happy to say that we start back in the new year on Friday the 11^th January, usual times from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We all look forward to seeing you there and welcome any new members that wish to come along.

Hornchurch Fencing Club meet, during school term time, at Havering 6^th Form College, Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch on Friday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

During the last sessions at the club we had some success in that Ellie Beaver won the Essex under 13 girls foil championship and Sam Thoupos won the Essex under 15 boys foil championship. Well done to both of them. Hard work does pay off and these two are leading lights in the junior section of the club.

We also had success in the Highams Youth Competition with Ellie gaining second place in her age group and Sam winning his age group competition.

Two golds for Sam in just a few weeks and a silver and gold for Ellie.

Ellie also fenced in the England youth championship and came a very creditable 18^th in her age group competition.

You must bring tracksuit and trainers, long trousers must be worn by beginners.

The club will loan you the dedicated fencing kit. Water to drink is also essential, I would advise you bring some. Showers etc. are available as is off street parking.

We do run the British Academy of Fencing Proficiency Award Scheme for those wishing to do them. These cost £5 per award for the certificate and badge.

Fee structure for 2007/08:

Term rates give two free weeks per term.

New members are always welcome, come along and have a try. First session is free.

Young people under the age of 18 year MUST be accompanied by a parent or designated guardian the whole time they are in attendance at the club.
